Total emissions in 2024 were 53.93 Mt CO2eq, a 1.9% decrease from 2023, driven by reductions in energy industries, agriculture, and industrial processes. However, Ireland exceeds its 2024 annual limit under the EU Effort Sharing Regulation by 3.93 Mt CO2eq without flexibilities. National emissions from 2021-2024 have used 81% of the 295 Mt CO2eq Carbon Budget for 2021-2025. The projections assess progress towards national and EU targets."
