"The Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill 2026, sponsored by the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, was introduced in Dáil Éireann on 27 May 2026. It requires Coimisiún na Meán members to disclose and divest interests in media providers, implements the European Media Freedom Act, extends RTÉ audit powers to the Comptroller and Auditor General, and mandates public reporting of RTÉ staff and contractor remuneration. The bill also renames the Broadcasting Fund and amends the Broadcasting Act 2009. It is at First Stage."
