"The Garda Síochána (Recording Devices) (Amendment) Bill 2025, introduced on 11 December 2025, seeks to expand Garda powers to carry out biometric analysis and amend the 2023 Act. Sponsored by the Minister for Justice, it has passed all Dáil stages and completed Seanad Second Stage on 27 May 2026. The bill provides for codes of practice and related matters. It is currently awaiting further Seanad stages."
