- Daniel Ennis (SocDems) wins Dáil seat in Dublin Central; council seat to be filled by co-option.
- Seán Kyne (Fine Gael) returns to Dáil; his Seanad seat to be filled by Oireachtas by-election.
- SocDems target 8 June for co-option; Seanad by-election requires nine nominators.
"Following the election of Social Democrats councillor Daniel Ennis to the Dáil in the Dublin Central by-election, and Fine Gael senator Seán Kyne's re-election to the Dáil in Galway West, two vacancies have opened. The Social Democrats will co-opt a new councillor for Dublin City Council, with a candidate selection process underway and a target deadline of 8 June. Kyne's vacant Seanad seat (Cultural and Education panel) will be filled by a by-election where the 234 members of the Oireachtas vote by secret ballot. Candidates need nine nominations from Oireachtas members or from nominating bodies."
