"Ireland's final greenhouse gas emissions for 2024 were 53.93 Mt CO2eq, a 1.9% decrease from 2023. Emissions per capita fell to 10.0 t CO2eq. Energy Industries hit a 35-year low, down 8.8%, while Agriculture decreased 1.3% due to cattle reductions. Transport saw its first post-COVID decrease (-1.3%). Residential emissions rose 4.8% due to colder weather. Ireland is not compliant with the EU Effort Sharing Regulation in 2024, and has used 81% of its first carbon budget (2021-2025), requiring a 0.8% reduction in 2025 to stay within budget."
