0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • Ireland takes over EU Council presidency on 1 July 2026.
  • Taoiseach calls for suspension of EU-Israel trade agreement.
  • Occupied Territories Bill to be introduced but passage uncertain.

"Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley said Ireland could push for EU sanctions against Israel after it assumes the EU Council presidency in July. This follows international outrage over a video by Israeli minister Ben-Gvir. Taoiseach Micheál Martin called for suspension of the EU-Israel trade agreement. The long-awaited Occupied Territories Bill, banning trade with illegal settlements, is expected to be introduced before the Dáil summer recess, but Dooley could not guarantee its passage."
